Lottery for National Christmas Tree Lighting opens

WASHINGTON – The lottery for tickets to the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Ellipse opens Thursday.

People interested in attending the annual event in Washington can apply online, beginning at 10 a.m.

The lottery can also be entered by calling 1-877-444-6777.

There are 3,000 seated tickets and 14,000 standing-room tickets available.

The lottery ends at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 29.

The tree lighting ceremony, now in its 90th year, is scheduled for Dec. 6.
