WASHINGTON — Details are emerging in the shooting at a Waldorf McDonald’s on May 20th, with the lawyer for the woman accused of pulling the trigger saying the custody dispute leading up to the incident involved an accusation of child abuse.

Prince George’s Police Officer Richard Conway and his mother, Caroline Conway are both charged with first degree murder and are being held without bond.

The mother is one who is accused of pulling the trigger killing her former daughter-in-law’s new husband, Robert Mange.

Krystal Mange was also shot in the back but survived. She is Richard Conway’s ex-wife. The estranged couple have two young children.

The motive in this case was believed to have stemmed from a child custody dispute but James Farmer, Caroline Conway’s lawyer, says this case goes far beyond that. He says there are allegations that Conway’s two grandchildren were being sexually abused by Robert Mange and Krystal Mange.

Farmer says, “I want to make clear that there are public court records, court records which indicate that there are allegations of molestation of a sexual nature by the victims in this case, Mrs. and Mr. Mange, against Mrs. Conway’s grandchildren.”

He said he cannot say more about the allegations because the case still has to go to court.  “There’s a lot more to this story than first meets the eye. You know, that the state and the media has put out at this time,”  Farmer added.
