Police say woman kidnapped, assaulted in Uber car in Northeast D.C.

WASHINGTON – Police have asked for help finding a suspect in connection to a kidnapping and assault with the intent to commit a sexual offense. It happened early Sunday in the area of 11th and G streets in Northeast D.C.

Around 2:45 a.m., police say, a woman accepted a ride and entered the suspect’s vehicle, which had an Uber cab decal on the left rear passenger vent window. The driver assaulted the woman with the intent to commit a sexual attack, and refused to let her get out of the car.

Police did not say how the victim got away.

The suspect was described as a Middle Eastern man with a light complexion, a slim build and short black hair with a widow’s peak. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a black four-door sedan with a grey or beige interior, as well as the Uber cab decal.

A spokeswoman for Uber said in a statement, “We are urgently looking into this serious report and have reached out to MPD to offer our assistance.”
