Downed tree blocks Old Dominion Road, disrupts power for hours Sunday

WASHINGTON — A downed tree disrupted traffic and caused power outages in Arlington, Va., on Sunday morning.

Old Dominion Drive between Kirby Road and Williamsburg Road was still closed as of 10:15 a.m. Sunday. The tree went down, dragging power lines with it, at about 8 a.m.

Dominion Virginia Power reported that 245 customers in the area were initially out of power, but they were able to get all but about 100 restored soon after. Arlington police, however, said it might take the entire day to get the mess cleaned up.

It is not clear what caused the tree to fall.
