Cracks found on ICC bridges

WASHINGTON – More problems with bridges over the brand-new Intercounty Connector have been discovered.

Two new bridges have cracks in them.

Inspectors found new hairline cracks on the bridge that carries the ICC over U.S. 29 in Briggs Chaney and a ramp near U.S. 29.

Earlier this year, inspectors found cracks in three other ICC bridges.

ICC spokesman Ray Feldmann says the bridges are still safe, but the cracks could affect the durability of the bridges, The Examiner reports.

The contractors who designed the bridges will have to pay to fix them.
