Anne Arundel Co. officer allegedly bit man in groin

WASHINGTON — A police officer for Anne Arundel County has been arrested on assault and public intoxication charges in Baltimore.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said Wednesday that Cpl. Michael Flaig, 31, was arrested after a disturbance in the Canton area of Baltimore.

The officer is accused of biting another man’s testicles during a fight outside a bar while he was off-duty on Cinco de Mayo.

Baltimore police say the victim accused Flaig, who was off-duty, of groping his female roommate, the The Baltimore Sun reports.

Police say during the fight, the victim straddled Flaig to keep him from getting away and Flaig bit his testicles.

Flaig has been placed on paid, administration duty.

Chief Timothy Altomare called the charges “disturbing.”

“We have an obligation as police officers to conduct ourselves in a professional manner on- and off-duty,” Altomare said in a statement.

Flaig has worked for the department for 10 years and was assigned to the Northern District.
