Renters need to ask questions

WASHINGTON – Searching for an apartment may be more challenging now than it’s been for a while. Vacancies are down and rental rates up.

Yahoo! Finance reports the squeeze on the rental market may mean some renters are accepting a unit they might not otherwise consider.

So, Yahoo! turned to RentHop for help finding the best rental possible by asking the top 10 rental questions renters forget to ask.

For one, renters don’t get the same inspections home buyers get, so make sure to treat a showing as if it’s a purchase.

Good questions include asking about and checking cellphone service in the apartment, measuring the bedrooms, checking the unit’s water pressure, heating, amenities, elevator and view.
