Suspicious death in Arlington is a homicide

WASHINGTON — Police are saying that the death of a single mother in Arlington Friday is a homicide after they previously labeled it as a “very suspicious death.”

On Friday, investigators found 42-year-old Bonnie Black dead inside her home located in the 1100 block of 18th Steet S. in the Aurora Highlands neighborhood. Black’s two children were found wandering around outside the house in their pajamas.

Black died as a result of a stabbing, says Arlington County Police Department Spokesman Dustin Sternbeck.

This is the first time police announced a cause of death.

“We do not have a primary suspect now. We have talked to the estranged husband and he is cooperating with the police investigation,” Sternbeck says.

The estranged husband is not in custody.

Police say the two children are in a “safe environment” but declined to say where.
