Driver flees after hitting jogger in Fairfax County

WASHINGTON — A woman was struck by a vehicle while jogging in Fairfax County Thursday night, and police say the driver did not stop.

The 38-year-old woman was struck as she jogged across Ox Road at Zion Drive around 6:30 p.m. According to Fairfax County Police, she was in a crosswalk at the time.

The vehicle was making a right turn on red from Zion Drive onto Ox Road, and police say the driver did not stop to help or exchange information. The vehicle was described as a small, gray sedan.

Police say the jogger had right of way to cross the road. She was taken to an area hospital, where she was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
