Ratsie’s, a College Park staple, closes its doors

WASHINGTON — A College Park staple has closed its doors for good.

Ratsie’s on Route One sold its last slice of ultra-greasy pizza early Sunday morning.

The legendary pizzeria first opened in 1984 under a different owner.  Since then, it’s served thousands of students late night varieties of pizza, wings and subs.

Owner Mike Falamoun tells the Washington Business Journal he’s ready to retire, but will miss his “baby.”

Nando’s Peri Peri will take over the space in the fall. So far, there’s no word on whether the new owners plan to keep the night hours, 10 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., that made Ratsie’s an institution.
