Plane sinks into ‘soft spot’ at Reagan National

WASHINGTON – A U.S. Airways flight got stuck in the tarmac at Reagan National airport Friday.

The intense heat of the day apparently softened the asphalt enough that the wheels sank into it.

The 35 passengers and three crew members on board had to get off so a tow vehicle could budge the jet out of its rut.

The Charleston, S.C. bound flight took off after a three-hour delay.

A photo claiming to be of the plane’s wheels stuck in tarmac can be seen here.
