Md. man shot while walking on Piney Branch Road dies

WASHINGTON — A Maryland man who was shot while walking in Silver Spring died early Tuesday morning.

Jonathan Lopez, 24, of Brentwood, Maryland, was shot as he walked along Piney Branch Road Monday night. He encountered a lone light-skinned man wearing dark clothing, who police said previously had tried to rob Lopez.

Lopez was conscious when police arrived and was taken to the hospital in serious condition for treatment of at least one gunshot wound.
