LSU suspends G Danielle Ballard indefinitely

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — LSU women’s basketball coach Nikki Caldwell says junior guard Danielle Ballard has been suspended indefinitely from game competition.

Caldwell, in a statement Wednesday, said Ballard’s suspension occurred after she violated team rules. Further details were not provided, but the university says Ballard, of Memphis, Tennessee, will be able to practice with the team.

The Lady Tigers, which has had three straight 20-plus win seasons and three straight NCAA tournament appearances under Caldwell, open the exhibition season Wednesday with a game against Loyola-New Orleans.
