Sam Houston knocks off Stephen F. Austin 42-28

HOUSTON (AP) — Keeshawn Hill rushed for 156 yards and four touchdowns to lead Sam Houston State to a 42-28 victory over Stephen F. Austin on Saturday.

Hill had scoring runs of 59, 31 and 3 yards to give Sam Houston (5-4, 4-1 Southland Conference) a 21-14 lead at the half. Hill sprinted 32 yards for a score on the third play of the second half and Jared Johnson added a scoring run from the 2 to give the Bearkats a 35-14 advantage in the third.

SFA (6-3, 3-2) kept coming back but Sam Houston’s defense stopped the Lumberjacks. Zach Conque, who finished with 266 yards passing and 98 rushing, ran in from the 5 to close to 42-28 with 1:34 remaining. SFA recovered the ensuing onside kick, but four plays later Mikell Everette intercepted a Conque pass in the end zone to seal the win.
