Police: 3 family members dead in Seattle shooting

SEATTLE (AP) — Police say a man shot and killed his adult daughter and teenage granddaughter in their South Seattle home before turning the gun on himself.

The man’s 10-year-old grandson was not harmed, and phoned 911 to report last night’s shooting. The child said his grandfather had waved a handgun at the two victims before shooting them. The boy says his grandfather then killed himself.

Police have not identified the family. The grandfather is described as having been in his 60s.

The boy has been placed in the care of extended family.

The mayor is calling the shooting “a family tragedy.”
