McCoy, Redskins shock Cowboys in OT

WASHINGTON — Kai Forbath’s 40-yard field goal gave the Redskins a 20-17 upset victory over the rival Dallas Cowboys in overtime on Monday night.

The true hero, though, was third-string quarterback Colt McCoy, who completed 25 out of 30 passes for 299 yards in his first start in three years. He also scored a touchdown on a daring run in the fourth quarter.

Forbath’s field goal gave Washington the lead; the Cowboys got the ball and failed to make a first down.

The Redskins came into the game 2-5; the Cowboys, 6-1. But it was a tight game throughout, with the largest lead the Redskins’ seven-point cushion when McCoy’s run made it 17-10.
