Catanzaro sets rookie mark with 16th field goal

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona Cardinals kicker Chandler Catanzaro has set the NFL rookie record by making his 16th straight field goal to start his career.

Catanzaro kicked a 28-yard field goal in the fourth quarter Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, breaking the record set by St. Louis’ Greg Zuerlein in 2012.

Catanzaro is now one behind the overall NFL record for consecutive field goals made to start a career, set by Washington’s Kai Forbath in 2012, who was not a rookie when he did it.

The undrafted Catanzaro, who won a close battle with incumbent Jay Feely coming out of training camp, entered Sunday’s game tied for second for most field goals made this season, three behind New England’s Stephen Gostkowski.
