Perish leads Indiana State past S. Illinois, 41-26

CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) — Mike Perish threw for 353 yards and four touchdowns, two in the first quarter, to spark Indiana State to a 41-26 win over Southern Illinois Saturday.

The Sycamores (5-3, 2-2 Missouri Valley) built a 24-7 halftime lead, but saw it cut to a 10-point advantage on a 26-yard Ryan West-to-Tay Willis touchdown pass.

Perish responded by tossing a 6-yard strike to Isaac Beverstock and a 22-yard pass to Kyani Harris for his second touchdown reception of the game.

Buck Logan led the Indiana State rushing attack, piling up 142 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, and Harris finished with 129 receiving yards on 5 catches.

West and Mark Iannotti combined to go 31 of 51 for 291 yards and three touchdowns, but each quarterback threw an interception for the Salukis (5-4, 2-3). Southern Illinois was held to just 27 total yards rushing.
