WASHINGTON — The Redskins blew a 15-point lead with just under three minutes left in regulation, and went on to lose in New Orleans 34-31 in overtime.

The ‘Skins’ 31 points were a season high, and rookie running back Samaje Perine had a breakout performance, rushing for 117 yards and his first NFL touchdown. But Mark Ingram did a lot of damage in the final quarter and overtime, finishing with 134 and a touchdown on just 11 carries, including a 31-yard scamper to set up the game-winning 28 yard field goal by Wil Lutz.

Adding injury to insult, Chris Thompson — the team leader in receiving yards and total touchdowns — was carted off the field with an ugly leg injury and did not return. Coach Jay Gruden announced after the game he suffered a fibula fracture and will require surgery.

The loss is the second straight conference loss for the Redskins, who fall to 4-6 overall and just 3-5 in NFC play.
