1 dies in Waldorf camper fire

WASHINGTON — A person died in a camper fire in Charles County Wednesday afternoon.

Around 3:30 p.m., a fire started in a fifth-wheel camper parked on Goldie Farm Place in Waldorf, Maryland. The Charles County Volunteer Fire Department responded to help fight the blaze, but one person died, said spokesman Jeff Duer.

Officials have not released details about the cause of the fire, or the identity of the victim.

The Goldie Farm Place fire was the second fatal fire in the county Wednesday.

Flames engulfed a mobile home on Bryans Road around 5:40 a.m., leading to a man’s death. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

The two fires happened more than 10 miles away from each other.
