Danville child dies after being hit by school bus

DANVILLE, Va. (AP) — A Danville toddler has died after he was hit by a city school bus.

Danville police say in a news release that 20-month-old Tayshaun Gregory Glenn Jackson of Danville got in front of the bus after it stopped to drop off two students. The bus started to continue its route and hit the boy. He was pronounced dead at a Danville hospital.

The accident occurred around 4:10 p.m. Monday.

Police say the bus was transporting students from Gibson Elementary School. Three students who were on the bus weren’t injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
