Recent death of man shot in 1993 ruled a homicide

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police say the death of a man 21 years after he was shot during a robbery has been ruled a homicide.

Officers say Donald Gillums was shot in August 1993 on North Hilton Street. Kevin Lamar Coley, now 39, was charged in the crime, convicted, and remains in prison.

Gillums died on Aug. 24. He was 57. Police say on Oct. 7, the state medical examiner ruled that the cause of Gillums’ death was a result of complications from the 1993 gunshot wound.

Officers say no new charges have been filed.
