Student injured in central Va. school incident

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A lockdown at a suburban Richmond school has been lifted after an altercation involving two students and a knife that sent one of the students to the hospital.

The Manchester High School student was taken to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries following the Monday morning incident, according to media reports. The student’s injuries are not considered life threatening.

A spokesman for Chesterfield County schools said the altercation in the band room was “an isolated incident.”

Police said one of the students was in custody.
