Student shot during robbery near Norfolk State

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Police are investigating the shooting of a Norfolk State University student during a robbery near the campus.

Norfolk police tell media outlets that another student was assaulted during the incident. Both students were taken to a hospital with injuries that aren’t believed to be life threatening.

Police say two men approached the students as they were sitting in car at a store near the campus around 3:15 a.m. Monday. One man showed a gun.

The men took personal property and items from the students. Police say one man shot one student while the second man assaulted the other student. The suspects then fled.

Norfolk State is on fall break and no classes are scheduled Monday or Tuesday.
