Image of Asia: Olive ridley turtles head into sea

The Associated Press

In this photo by Firdia Lisnawati, released sea turtles make their way into the ocean in Bali, Indonesia, as tourists, schoolchildren and others watch. More than 2,000 baby and two adult protected olive ridley turtles from a breeding center were released as part of a campaign to save the turtles. Turtle meat is a traditional delicacy in Bali, although Indonesia has banned trade and consumption of sea turtles due to concerns about dwindling numbers and the possibility of a tourist boycott. Turtles, especially green and olive ridleys, are among several protected species in the vast nation of 17,000 islands.
