Tropical Storm Simon moving toward Mexico

MIAMI (AP) — A weakening Tropical Storm Simon is moving toward Mexico’s Pacific coast.

The storm’s maximum sustained winds early Tuesday have decreased to near 40 mph (65 kph). The U.S. National Hurricane Center says the storm is expected to weaken to remnant low later Tuesday or Wednesday.

A tropical storm watch is in effect for Mexico from Punta Abreojos to Punta Eugenia.

The storms is centered about 120 miles (195 kilometers) west-southwest of Punta Eugenia and is moving north-northeast near 7 mph (11 kph).
