Brazilian league match marred by fan violence

SAO PAULO (AP) — A Brazilian league match was briefly interrupted due to fan violence that left at least one man injured Sunday.

Fans from Goias and Figueirense got into a confrontation on the stands at the Serra Dourada Stadium, and television footage showed the injured man lying motionless on the ground for some time. What appeared to be a homemade bomb later exploded near him.

Local media reported the unidentified man later recovered but was taken to a hospital. His condition was not immediately available.

The match, won by Goias, was briefly interrupted midway through the second half as the fans threw kicks and punches at each other until police arrived.

The rest of the small crowd in Goiania booed loudly.

Players from both teams repeatedly asked the rival fans to calm down.
