Police: 2nd person dies after Rockingham crash

ELKTON, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police say a second person has died after a three-vehicle crash in Rockingham County.

The accident occurred Wednesday on state Route 340 near Elkton when the driver of a 1999 Buick tried to pass a tractor-trailer and collided head-on with a 2005 Honda Civic. The Buick then hit the tractor-trailer.

Police say the driver of the Buick, 82-year-old Robert D. Hulvey of Waynesboro, died at the scene. The driver of the Honda, 35-year-old Sara M. Hensley of Elkton, died Friday at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

A 3-year-old boy who was secured in a child safety seat in the Honda was taken to Rockingham Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.
