Va. man who used kids to steal sentenced to jail

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) — A Chesapeake man who used his children to steal has been sentenced to three months in jail.

Prosecutors say 32-year-old Shane Roddy shoplifted items with the help of his children from a Macy’s store at the Greenbrier Mall in 2013

The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/10jsQjq ) reports that Roddy was sentenced Monday. He had pleaded guilty to two counts of felony theft and six counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Court documents show all three of Roddy’s children are under the age of 5.

Roddy will serve his sentence on weekends.

One of his attorneys, Joshua Holder, declined to comment to the newspaper.
