Disaster aid available for 3 SW Va. localities

BRISTOL, Va. (AP) — Federal disaster loans are available for small businesses and nonprofit organizations in three southwest Virginia localities.

The U.S. Small Business Administration says a disaster declaration for part of Tennessee has been expanded to Scott and Washington counties, as well as the city of Bristol, Virginia. The assistance is being offered as a result of tornadoes, high winds, hail and lightning on July 27 and 28.

The SBA says the Virginia localities are eligible because they border one or more of the affected counties in Tennessee.

Loan amounts can be up to $2 million with interest rates of 2.625 percent for nonprofits and 4 percent for small businesses.
