Arrest made in D.C. armed robbery cases

WASHINGTON — D.C. police detectives have announced an arrest in connection with an armed robbery and assault with a gun.

After a joint investigation was conducted by FBI and D.C. police, 27 year-old Robert Russell of Northwest was arrested Friday at 7 p.m.

An arrest warrant charged him with armed robbery in connection with a robbery that occurred Wednesday in the 300 block of K Street, Northwest.

A subsequent investigation led to Russell being charged with another armed robbery that occurred Thursday along New York Avenue in Northeast.

D.C. police and the FBI continue to investigate similar cases in which Russell could be involved.
