DC officer shot and wounded, man fatally shot

WASHINGTON (AP) — D.C. police say an officer was wounded and two other people were shot, one fatally, in southeast Washington.

Police say the shooting occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. Saturday. The officer had responded to a call about disorderly people. The officer was shot and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim who was slain was 39-year-old Anthony Jones of southeast Washington. He died at a hospital. Another man was also shot at the scene and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police have not released any information about suspects or a possible motive.
