Hate making school lunch for your kids? There’s a website for that

Boston-based Smart Lunches has signed up with a dozen private schools in the Washington area for its daily delivery of fresh, healthy lunches to students.

Parents choose from an online menu, including everything from veggie quesadillas and chicken teriyaki to a traditional ham and cheese sandwich, for $6 a day.

Smart Lunches started in Boston in 2011, and now has school partnerships in seven states. It partners with local catering companies for the food preparation and delivery. In Washington, its partner is Alexandria-based To Your Taste Catering.

It will expand its service to day camps next summer, including Headfirst Summer Camps, the largest summer camp program in the Washington area.

You can read more about how the Smart Lunches program works, and which Washington area schools have signed on so far, here.
