DOSWELL, Va. (AP) — The State Fair of Virginia is opening its 10-day run with a traditional array of attractions.

The gates open 10 a.m. on Friday at The Meadow Event Park in Doswell in Caroline County and runs through Oct.5.

The Virginia Farm Bureau says last year’s fair attracted 229,000 guests.

General admission tickets include all concerts, exhibits and attractions. Admission does not include rides.

Officials say all rides will have undergone three separate safety inspections and will continue to be inspected daily.
