Fire midfielder Bakary Soumare suspended for game

NEW YORK (AP) — Chicago Fire midfielder Bakary Soumare was suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Soccer on Thursday for endangering the safety of an opponent.

Soumare was penalized for his actions in the ninth minute in Chicago’s 3-3 home tie against D.C. United on Saturday night.

MLS also fined Chivas USA midfielder Leandro Barrera an undisclosed amount for simulation in the 80th minute of a game against Toronto FC on Sunday.
