Police: 5-year-old girl sexually assaulted by stranger at Fairfax Co. apartment complex

WASHINGTON — Police say they’re investigating the sexual assault of a 5-year-old girl at an apartment complex in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County.

The girl was assaulted after being taken by a stranger from a common area of the apartment complex in the 6700 block of Tower Drive around 5 p.m. Sunday, Fairfax County police spokeswoman Reem Awad told WTOP. A family member initially noticed the girl was missing and she resurfaced a short time later reporting what had happened, police said.

Awad said only that the suspect is described as a Hispanic male. Authorities are still working with witnesses to gather more information and are currently working on putting together a composite sketch.

The police are asking anyone with any information about the case to call them at 703-691-2131, or anonymously through Crime Solvers or by texting “TIP187” plus your tip to 274637.
