Woman struck, killed while crossing street

ODENTON, Md. (AP) — Anne Arundel County Police say a woman was killed when she tried to cross a street in Odenton.

It happened about 2 p.m. Monday on Annapolis Road. Police say 28-year-old Tamika Bailey of Severn was trying to cross the northbound lanes.

Officers say she was hit by a car driven by 28-year-old Ashley Shanahorn of Fort Meade.

Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is under investigation, but police say pedestrian error appears to be the cause.
