Hokies WR Stanford taking leave of absence

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Virginia Tech wide receiver Joshua Stanford is taking a leave of absence from the team to attend to some unspecified personal issues.

Coach Frank Beamer made the announcement Tuesday, saying in a release that he will not have any further comment on Stanford’s situation.

Stanford is a redshirt sophomore from Mississauga, Ontario. He has started two of three games for the Hokies (2-1) this season and has five receptions for 35 yards. He started 11 of 13 games last season and set school records for freshman with 40 catches for 640 yards and one touchdown.
