Montgomery Co. parking rates set to rise

WASHINGTON — You’ll pay more to park in Montgomery County, starting Wednesday.

On-street parking rates will increase from $2 an hour to $2.25 an hour.

If you park in a lot, those rates will go from $1.25 to $1.50 an hour, and in three “high-demand” parking garages (Cordell-St Elmo, Metropolitan Garage at Woodmont Avenue and Bethesda-Elm), the rates will go from $1 to $1.25 an hour.

At the remaining county garages, where the current price is 80 cents an hour, the price will go up to $1 an hour.

Not all the rates jump Wednesday; some of the rate hikes won’t go into effect until July 10. That includes parking rates at the Woodmont Corner Garage, the Capital Crescent Garage and the Metropolitan Garage at Woodmont Avenue.
