BRIDGEWATER, Va. (AP) — Bridgewater College has acquired a hotel to provide temporary housing for students when on-campus residence facilities are full.

The college bought the two-building, 24-room Crimson Inn in Bridgewater in late August. The hotel is located near the school’s main campus.

Bridgewater vice president Anne Keeler tells The Daily News-Record (http://bit.ly/YwtkSD ) that the college requires students to live on campus, except those living with their families in the local area. She says the hotel will provide temporary overflow housing in years when enrollment acceptances exceed projections.

The college had to obtain a “flexible-purpose housing” special-use permit from the town to acquire the property.
