Fatal pedestrian crash in Fairfax

WASHINGTON — A 32-year-old Fairfax man was killed Monday night when he was walking across the northbound lanes of West Ox Road and hit by a car.

The Fairfax County Police Department says Brener Omar Llamas Rivera was on the roadway near Polo Drive around 9 p.m. when he was hit by the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu. Rivera was not on a crosswalk, the release states.

The driver, a 50-year-old Alexandria man, remained on the scene. Speed and alcohol were not factors for the driver of the Malibu, the release says. It has not been determined if alcohol was a factor for the pedestrian.

Rivera was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
