Officer struck by car in DC

WASHINGTON (AP) — A police officer has been hospitalized after being hit by a car in northeast Washington.

The Metropolitan Police Department confirms the officer was struck around 1 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Eastern Avenue NE and that she was on duty at the time of the accident.

The driver of the car remained on scene.

The officer was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation is ongoing.
