Driver faces charges in Va. wreck that killed 3

KELLER, Va. (AP) — An Accomac man faces involuntary manslaughter charges stemming from a wreck that killed three people on the Eastern Shore.

Virginia State Police also charged 36-year-old Bonfilio Velazquez with driving under the influence. He’s being held without bond at the Eastern Shore Regional Jail.

State police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says a van driven by Velazquez crossed the center line of U.S. Route 13 near Keller in Accomack County and hit a car shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday.

The car’s driver and two passengers died at the scene. The driver was 58-year-old Arnette N. Chandler of Roosevelt, New York. The passengers were 55-year-old Diann W. Jones of Exmore and 12-year-old A’Jamae Jones, whose hometown was unavailable.

Three other children who were passengers in the car were injured.

Geller says Velazquez wasn’t injured.
