Vehicle of Va. mom, baby found — but they’re still missing

WASHINGTON — The car of a Hampton, Virginia mother and her baby has been located by police, but both remain missing amid fears they’ve been abducted.

Hampton police confirmed to WTOP Sunday that the vehicle of Keir Johnson, 34, had been found.

There was no sign of her or her 8-month-old daughter Chloe.

An Amber Alert was issued Thursday evening for both Johnson and the baby girl.

Johnson was last seen wearing blue jeans, T-shirt and glasses.

She and Chloe were last seen in the area of 1900 Hastings Avenue in Hampton, Virginia.

Earlier in the week, Hampton police Chief Terry Sult said at a press conference that “diligent police work” and new information has upgraded the case to a possible abduction.

Sult said the case didn’t seem like kidnapping at first. Johnson had a scheduled week off from work, although she planned to stay in the area.

Concerns continued to grow because Johnson usually kept in close contact with family members, talking to them several times a day.

Authorities urge anyone with information to call the Hampton Police Department at 757-727-6111 or the Virginia State Police at 1-800-822-4453.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
