Robbers interrupt party at Chevy Chase home

WASHINGTON – A group of friends was robbed at gunpoint while they were hanging out on a back deck of a Chevy Chase home Monday night.

D.C. police say two men, both wearing masks and each armed with a handgun, interrupted the gathering of friends and ordered the group to the ground. The robbers searched the friends’ pockets, taking cellphones, cash and credit cards before escaping out the back alley.

One of the victims, Aaron O’Neal, tells WTOP that the group was listening to music at a friend’s house and didn’t hear the two robbers approach.

“That was quite shocking, especially in the neighborhood we was at,” he says. “You wouldn’t think something like that would be happening around that area,” he says.

The home is on Jocelyn Street off of Connecticut Avenue. And the six young men who were robbed range in age from 19 to 23.

Two police dogs were brought in to help track the robbers without success. Police are actively investigating the robbery and say they are following up on leads.
