DUBLIN, Va. (AP) — A bald eagle found at a Pulaski County landfill is being released back into the wild.

The Wildlife Center of Virginia plans to release the eagle on Thursday at Claytor Lake State Park. The release is open to the public.

The eagle was found unresponsive by landfill workers Aug. 15 in Dublin. It initially was treated at an animal hospital in Blacksburg and eventually was taken to the Wildlife Center’s clinic in Waynesboro.

Although laboratory tests are incomplete, the eagle has shown no further signs of injury or illness, and center staff determined the eagle is ready to return to the wild.
