WASHIGNTON —  A tornado flipped four cars and uprooted trees in King George County, Virginia on Friday morning, the National Weather Service has confirmed.

The 10-yard-wide twister left a half-mile path of damage in its wake, moving from Naval Support Facility Dahlgren, across US Route 301 near the Harry Nice Memorial Bridge, and ending up at Barnesfield Park.

Security camera footage showed a narrow vortex flipping four cars in a parking at around 8:20 a.m.

Federal Aviation Administration radars from Joint Base Andrews and Reagan National Airport confirmed the security camera footage, according to the NWS.

The tornado also damaged trees along Higley Road and uprooted a large pine tree, which fell near a visitor center near U.S. Route 301.

There were no reports of injuries.

The storm’s peak winds reached 90 mph, making it a category EF1 tornado.

A storm moved through the northeast on Friday, bringing heavy rains and at least one other confirmed tornado in Virginia.

The NWS said an EF1 tornado downed trees and damaged buildings Dinwiddie County, just outside of McKenney, at around 7 a.m.

No injuries were reported in that storm either.
