Police officer accused of filming a minor who was undressing

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — A grand jury in Virginia has indicted a police officer accused of filming a minor who was undressing.

Media outlets report the grand jury in Norfolk Circuit Court indicted 40-year-old Corp. Roy Sharp on April 5 on one count of unlawful filming, videotape or photography. Sharp turned himself in the day after he was indicted.

Special prosecutor Nate Green says the recording was made in November 2016 and involved a person under the age of 18.

Police spokeswoman Cpl. Melinda Wray says Sharp, who has been with the department 16 years, will remain on administrative duty pending the outcome of the case.

It’s unclear if Sharp has an attorney.
