WASHINGTON — The Trump Organization and Chef Jose Andres have settled their nearly two-year old legal dispute over Andres’ decision to cancel plans for a restaurant at the Trump International Hotel in D.C. and, in a joint statement, say they are now friends.

[related_gallery align=”right”]Terms of the settlement — both had sued each other — were not disclosed, though it is described in the statement as amicable. (See the full statement below).

Andres pulled out of the hotel after then-candidate Donald Trump’s campaign-trail comments about immigrants in the U.S. Trump’s organization sued for breach of contract.

“I am glad that we are able to put this matter behind us and move forward as friends,” Donald Trump Jr. said in a statement. “Our entire team has great respect for the accomplishments of both Jose and TFG (ThinkFoodGroup, Andres’ restaurant company).”

Andres said in the joint statement: “I am pleased that we were able to resolve our differences and move forward corporately, as friends … Going forward, we are excited about the prospects of working together with the Trump organization on a variety of programs to benefit the community.”

The Trump Organization still faces a similar legal battle with another celebrity chef, Geoffrey Zacharian, who also canceled plans for a restaurant at the Trump hotel.
