Big Papi hits 400th career HR in Red Sox uniform

BOSTON (AP) — David Ortiz has become the third player in Boston Red Sox history to hit 400 home runs with the team.

Ortiz connected in the third inning Saturday night against Houston, sending a solo drive into the first row of the center-field seats at Fenway Park for the milestone shot. He then added a two-run homer in the fifth.

Ortiz has 459 home runs in his career, which started with the Minnesota Twins.

Big Papi Hall of Famers Ted Williams and Carl Yastrzemski as the only players to hit 400 homers while playing in a Red Sox uniform. Williams hit 521 and Yaz had 452.

Paul Konerko of the White Sox is the lone other active player with 400 homers for one team. He has 432 with Chicago.
